My background wasn’t always about picking out the perfect sofa or choosing the right shade of paint. Making Google Understand You (Semantic SEO and Simple Keywords):
To really get noticed online, you need to think about what people actually type into Google. That’s where understanding the meaning behind searches comes in.
- Think Like Your Clients: Instead of just “living room design,” think about what someone searching might really want: “how to make my living room feel cozy with a fireplace,” “ideas for arranging furniture in a small living room,” or “best paint colors for a living room that doesn’t get much sun.”
- Use Related Words Naturally: When you’re writing, don’t just repeat the same keywords over and over. Use other words that are related to your topic. For example, if you’re talking about “kitchen makeover,” you might also use words like “new cabinets,” “countertops,” “kitchen island,” “backsplash,” and “appliances.” This helps Google understand the whole picture.
Linking Your Website Together (Internal Linking Made Easy):
Think of your website like a connected web. When you link different pages together, it helps Google understand what’s important and also helps people find more useful information on your site.
Here’s how to do it simply:
- Link Blog Posts to Your Services: If you write a blog post about “Choosing the Perfect Sofa,” link it to your “Home Decorating Services” page using words like [“home decorating services”].
- Link Your Services to Your Projects: On your “Kitchen Design” page, link to specific kitchen projects in your portfolio using phrases like [“modern kitchen renovation”] or [“small kitchen design ideas”].
- Connect Related Blog Posts: If you have two blog posts about similar topics (like “Picking Paint Colors” and “Understanding How Colors Make You Feel”), link them to each other using phrases like [“how colors make you feel”] or [“tips for choosing paint colors”].
- Use Descriptive Links: Instead of just saying “click here,” use words that tell people (and Google) what the link is about.
Examples of Simple Internal Links for This Blog Post:
- When I talked about making your website great, I could link to another simple blog post called “Easy Steps to Build a Great Interior Design Website in 2025” using the words [“make your website awesome”].
- When I mentioned Instagram, I could link to a simple guide titled “Getting Clients Through Instagram for Interior Designers” using the words [“Instagram tips for designers”].
- When I talked about showing off your work, I could link to your online portfolio page using words like [“see my work”] or “[Your Name]’s design portfolio.”
Getting Leads, Building Your Name, and Showing Off Your Brand in 2025 (The Simple Version):
By doing these simple things consistently, you can start getting more clients, build a good reputation, and make your brand known in 2025, even if you’re starting small. Just remember:
- Keep Showing Up: Regularly update your website, post on social media, and share new ideas.
- Be Helpful: Give good advice and inspiration to your audience.
- Be Real: Talk to people online like you would in person.
